What do we evaluate in an echocardiography?
Using echocardiography we can see how the heart functions in real time. This allows us to observe chamber size, myocardial wall thickness and how the valves open and close to direct blood flow.
Using advanced techniques such as colour, pulsed and continuous wave Doppler, we can measure blood flow velocity within the heart and detect any valve leakage (murmurs) or narrowed areas that restrict blood passage.
All this information is crucial to establish an accurate diagnosis when your pet presents a murmur, cough, fatigue or fainting episodes. It tells us exactly what medication is needed and at what dose.
